APC HDR Contest Entries
One of the events I mentioned in my Photoshop World review was the APC HDR WalkShop. Thirty photographers armed with tripods descended upon Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas. The rules are pretty simple and I have to say that I'm pleased with the set of judges:
You will have until the end of the day on Wednesday, September 22nd to submit up to three of your best images to the group page. You can swap them out as many times as you like until the contest window ends. After September 22nd, the images that you have in our gallery will be the final candidates. If you submit more than three, we will only count the first three that appear. The rest will not be eligible.
I am very pleased to have a fantastic panel of judges who will be reviewing your final images with me to determine the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Your judges are:
Jacob Lucas – My esteemed Walkshop partner and veteran HDR photographer
Rafael ‘RC' Concepcion – Educator and curriculum developer for NAPP, co-host of Layers TV, writer for Photoshop User Magazine & Layers Magazine, and HDR expert
Lew Bedell & Bob Melson – Co-founders of Artistic Photo Canvas, the generous sponsor of this HDR Walkshop event and contest
Alicia Osborn – Entertainment Operations at Fremont Street Experience. Alicia brings her unique knowledge of Fremont Street Experience and has an educational background in photography
Brian Matiash – Yours truly!
The prize breakdown is:
1st Place: Custom 32×48 or 36×48 Gallery Wrapped Canvas (value $276.00)
2nd Place: Custom 24×32 or 24×36 Gallery Wrapped Canvas (value $169.00)
3rd Place: Custom 12×16 or 12×18 Gallery Wrapped Canvas (value $89.00)
Winners will be announced on Monday, September 27th. We are really excited to see all of the wonderful shots that you submit. Best of luck to all of you!
This is why I like the judges. Brian and Jacob were our hosts for the walk and provided great instruction and advice during our outing. R.C. is from NAPP and was one of the instructors at the HDR pre-conference track. Lew & Bob are the folks who founded our sponsor, APC. Alicia knows the Fremont Street area and I thought it was fantastic to have someone from that local community look at the images for that perspective. To me, it looks like a very well represented group of experience and perspective to vote on the images.
You can see all of the entries on the APC HDR Walkshop Photo Contest Flickr Group. Here are the submissions I made to the group. Click on the image to view them in Flickr. We'll see how it all unfolds on September 27th.
