For a Safe and Secure Society [pinit]

I just got through watching the U.S. Vice Presidential debate for 2012. Both parties want a safe and secure society, I’m sure. Sadly, it reminded me a bit of Star Wars and the difference between the Jedi and the Sith. No, I’m not going to say which political party I think relates to either of those movie-made organizations.  Suffice it to say that followers of each seem to think that the other side is just pure evil.

I don’t see it quite that way. However, following along with social media while watching the debate was absolutely sickening to me. Most folks treated it like a team sport than an ideological discussion. Most folks were also very misinformed, and each side seemed to fall for pandering comments from their guy while spewing hateful comments at the opposition. At the end, each side proclaimed their guy was the winner and the opposition was “spanked.”

Idiots.

If you want a safe and secure society, please start with a little more civility and maturity. Instead, folks online were treating the debate more like a boxing match than a difference of ideas about how to lead a nation. The thing that astonishes me most (well, after the horrible spelling and grammar) is how little people actually knew about the issues. How do you take one side or the other if you don’t know what the politicians are talking about? It baffles me.

I’m starting to think that we’re ripe for alien invasion. In fact, I welcome our new alien overlords. Perhaps they can bring peace and stability by eliminating our free will. Perhaps alien overlords are exactly what we need to unite instead of divide our people.

When you go to the ballot box this November, I urge you to send a message to Washington, D.C. Ignore the typical party candidates and write in a vote for the Palpatine/Vader ticket.

This message brought to you by The Dark Side, for a brighter tomorrow.

  1. Or, instead of waiting for the alien overloads, we can just elect Romney/Ryan and eliminate our free will that way… since Ryan apparently has no understanding of separation of church & state. Welcome to the land of the free… but, you can’t do that here, since it is against our president and vice presidents’ religion!
