This shot of Amanda is one I took at a workshop in May of last year. It's been up on Flickr for quite a while. Usually, most of the comments I receive on an image happen shortly after I've posted them, and then they kind of fade away. However, I received a couple of nice compliments on this image yesterday. Sometimes people stumble across your older images during a search. Those kind words brightened my day. That's all it takes, really. If you like an image, say something. It's free and they may return the favor.
Another person contacted me on Flickr saying that she found my images while searching on Flickr for lifestyle headshots. Again, she left a very kind note and also asked for my advice on an upcoming shoot she's doing. That's the bonus package. Not only does it feel good if someone leaves you a compliment, but asking for your opinion or advice sort of reinforces it. It's one of the things I like about the photography community. Just a little interaction can make someone's day and it doesn't take much effort at all. Give it a try.
